01 — About • Manifesto

We keep a house for the heath, not the other way.

Hambhede Homang began as two friends, one collapsing farm and a sea of purple. The name joins hamb — old word for open grazing edge, hede — heath, and homang — gathering. Today it is a working homestead, nature reserve and open workshop.

We don't manicure nature. We graze it lightly with sheep, burn small patches as tradition teaches, cut pine seedlings by hand, and let nightjars, sand lizards and wild bees return. Around the houses we grow vegetables in no-dig beds, bake rye in a wood oven, weave, carve, dye with heather and weld old tools back to life.

◐ Rewild

70% of land is wild. No pesticides. No light pollution. Just corridors for life.

◑ Remake

Workshops in timber, wool, clay, honey and food. From raw to useful in a day.

Questions from the gate

Short answers. Long answers you get by the fire.

Heath map
Where is Hambhede Homang?

On the western heath belt, 40 min from the sea, 2h from the city. Exact pin you get after booking — to keep nights dark and quiet. Coordinates start with heather and end with wind.

When is the best season?

August–September for purple bloom and honey. May for lambs and orchids. October for mushrooms and storms. Winter for sauna, wool and writing.

Can I come with kids or as a beginner?

Yes. All workshops start from zero. Kids under 7 stay free, dogs on leash welcome. Beds are low, tools are sharp — we teach safety first.

What about food?

Vegetarian heath kitchen: rye, garden veg, cheese, eggs, honey. Breakfast basket included, long-table dinners Fri–Sun. Allergies? Tell us, we adapt.

Do you host events?

Small weddings (max 30), artist residencies, school camps and company unplug days. No speakers after 22:00 — owls have priority.
